The Newbie

Sorry this is the first chance Iv had to update this, since I landed in Barbados Its all been very manic!! Once I landed I met a girl who is joining the same ship as me in the airport we got a txi to the port ready to start our new jobs together!!

When we arrived at the port I just could not believe how big the ship was...Iv never really seen a cruise ship before and It was just so humongus I was so shocked!! I was very tired when I arrived after flying Manchester to Gatwick and then Gatwick to Bridgetown...It was about 7pm when we finaly arrived which was about 11pm in england so after being up since 5am I wa pooped. We went to meet our manager and then she took us on like a mini tour of the ship...I unpacked all my stuff so I felt a little more at home and soon as my head finaly hit the pillow I was out like a light!!

First day was preety easy we only worked from 8.30 to 11 because there were flight delays so the ship couldnt leave until all the passengers arrived!! Whe the ship finally did set sail I bloody felt it haha!! I felt like I was walking like Id had one to many cocktails pahaha. Everyone said that was really mild though so I was a little worried for if it ever gets rough cos Il be falling over ha! Im fine now tho I cant really feel it too much I think I was just not used to it.

My first port day was in Bonaire, we got off and went to a little rocky beach with some snorkles and went snorkling, it was so beautiful. Iv never seen fish like that before but I must admit I was a little freaked out to be so near them I have this weird phobia of things in the water touching my feet..I hate anything touching my feet!! haha. Only bad point was I got stung by a jellyfish twice!! grrrrrr little shit bag!!

Above is my ship docked in Bonaire...so lush daaarling!! haha and Im on a little pontoon thing where I was snorkling from!!

Im burnt to a crisp now so today im not sunbathing, Im in Aruba today but todays my turn to stay on board :( boooo hence my catching up with my blog etc.

Got a sea day tomorow again which Im not looking forward to its a really long day, the work is pretty easy really its just physically draining but Im sure I will get used to it!

Everyone on boards really nice iv already met lots of people from all different departments and everyone seems up for a laugh nd stuff which is good, I can eat for free so Im in my element here haha Iv been stuffing my face at any opportunity so im sure Il come home nice and fat! ha

Im rather sleepy today so going to try get some shut eye ready for work tonight and hope that my lobster chic look has dyed down by the time I wake up haha!!

Bookworm Corner

Alice Sebold-The Lovely Bones: I enjoyed this book all the way through and was dying to know the ending..only to be completely let down by the ending. I just felt like they were bored or couldnt be bothered to have a good ending so just put a very predictable and crap end. Bla Bla Bla
Audrey Niffenegger-Her Fearful Symmetry: This was a random read while I was bored in an airport by myself, all in all it was ok nothing to exciting and at times too un-believable really.
Audrey Niffenegger-Time Travelers Wife: hmmmm not so sure on this book, maybe I ruined it because I saw the film before I read the book. Little bit odd at times with regards to when he goes back to visit his younger self.
Candace Bushnell-Lipstick Jungle: I enjoyed this book, its written by the author of SATC so very similar in the characters and based in New York so anyone who is a Carrie & co fan will enjoy this easy read.
Cecelia Ahern-P.S I Love You: Awwww I loved this book, quite sad at times and I'm not normally one for soppy romance stories but I would definately reccommend this book.
Daphne Du Maurier-Jamaica Inn: Read this book because my mum always mentioned remembering she read it when she was younger...it was quite good about a woman moving in with her Aunt and her violent husband. Few twist and turns in throughout the events of this book.
Dawn Annandale-Call me Elizabeth: This book is about a working mother who is struggling to provide for her family and turns to prostitution, at times can be quite rude but there is a storyline not just all rudeys!! Plus its a true Story...always makes your own life feel more normal(or boring) when you read a true story!!
Dr Brian Weiss-Many Lives Many Masters: This was an account of a psychiatrist and a patient of his, if you are at all sceptical of life after death or about past lifes and how they affect us now then you wont enjoy this. If like me you enjoy all things like this then I would say youl enjoy this book. Only bad thing is its a very quick read, not a book to take on holidday, you'd have probably read it by the time your plane lands.
Jodi Picoult-Handle with care: I find any Picoult book a very easy read so they never really let me down, this particular one tugs a little on the heart strings as its mainly based on a little girl. Its actualy quite informative to about something called Osteogenesis Imperfecta (AKA Brittle Bone Disease)
Jodi Picoult-Picture Perfect: This book is based on a woman who is found near death and she has lost her memory about what happened to her, its an easy read but I think its quite predictable really. One thing I do like is there are references throughout the book of old Red Indian Tales and I have somewhat of a secret obsession with Red Indians and theyre myths haha
Juliana Buhring, Kristina & Celeste Jones-Not without my sister: ooofff this is a very intense read at times, a little too much for my liking. The book is written by 3 women who tell their stories about being part of an abusive and violent cult as young girls. Not my cup of tea but I guess it wakes you up a little to things that do still go on in the world.
Lauren Conrad-L.A Candy: So 'apparently' this book isnt about Lauren and the cast of the MTV series 'The Hills' but any of you that watch 'The Hills' I think would find alot of parts of this book seem very similar to the characters on the TV Series....guess you can make your own minds up.
Mameve Medwed-Host Family: Ironically I read this book about someone living with a host family whilst I too was living with a host family in Italy. so I enjoyed this on the basis that I myself was in the same position, not really the most exciting read but hey ho...
Phillip Pullman-Northern Lights: I really enjoyed the 1st book of the Trilogy 'His Dark Materials' more of a fantasy book in which there are alternate worlds but if you can let your imagination run free with this book I think you would enjoy it aswell.
Phillip Pullman-The Subtle Knife: 2nd book in the Trilogy 'His Dark Materials' again I enjoyed the book and all the new characters that unfolded in it, a few little suprises in this book..things are starting to come together alot more with the Trilogys story..I will be reading the 3rd book and completing the story I want to know the ending!!
Sophie Kinsella-Shopaholic Abroad: I enjoyed this, fun easy going book. Actualy very funny too!! Good book to read if you just was an uplifting fun book.
Stephenie Meye-Eclipse: Each book seems to get a little fatter and a little fatter ha but thats a good thing, the more detail the better!! In case you havent read these I dont want to spoil them but in this book the Vampires and Werewolves have to side together, I love all the Twilight books..unfortunately I watched the film for this particular book and have to say I was a tad let down by it.
Stephenie Meyer-Breaking Dawn: The final part of the Saga, this book is actualy split into Bellas story and Jakes story which is good as we finaly get to see into Jakes mind and how he potrays the events that have already happened. Also the big finaly ending..I have enjoyed these books alot and It did keep me changing my mind every chapter about what I though the ending would be.
Stephenie Meyer-New Moon: Again a very easy to read book..this book focuses alot more on Bella & Jakes relationship so a little different to the first one.
Stephenie Meyer-The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: Seeing as im a little obsessed with everything Twilight my friend bought me this as a gift..very thin book so doesnt take long to read but was good. Its about one of the newborn vampires that were created. Gives you a little insight into another aspect of the sotry rather thn just the Cullen story.
Stephenie Meyer-Twilight: Oohhhh LOVE all the Twiligh Saga, as usualy I prefer the books to the films.
